Effecten van loondoorbetaling bij ziekte: een internationale verkenning

Nergens ter wereld zijn werkgevers zo lang verantwoordelijk voor de loondoorbetaling van zieke werknemers als in Nederland. Deze verplichting heeft een positief effect op verzuimpreventie en re-integratie inspanningen van werkgevers. Over de mogelijke keerzijde van deze verplichting is weinig bekend. Zo kan de loondoorbetaling leiden tot afwenteling (waardoor minder mensen in vaste dienst komen) en risicoselectie (waardoor het aantal werkzame arbeids-gehandicapten daalt) door werkgevers. Uit een beknopte internationale vergelijking en quickscan van de literatuur blijken hier vooralsnog weinig aanwijzingen voor.
